Testimonials

What people say about working with me.

It was an honour to welcome Dr Martin Bloomfield to UNITE 2024 — not just as a keynote speaker, but as a deeply thoughtful friend of DAS.

Martin’s keynote, ‘Literal Inequality: The Injustice of Dyslexia’, was a raw and honest exploration of the barriers that neurodivergent individuals continue to face. He challenged us to see dyslexia not simply as a learning difference, but as a human rights issue, one that demands ethical reflection, structural change, and collective responsibility.

What made Martin’s contribution so powerful was his openness. He didn’t just speak to us, he listened. During his time in Singapore, he took the time to speak with our educators, interview staff, and engage with our DAS community on a human level. His podcast with Geetha captured the same depth and integrity that he brought to the stage: grounded, compassionate, and unafraid to name hard truths.

Martin reminded us that inclusion isn’t just about policy or pedagogy, it’s about justice, dignity, and the right to be seen, heard, and supported. We thank him for his voice, his courage, and his ongoing advocacy.

CEO, Dyslexia Association of Singapore

I had the privilege of spending some quality time with Dr Martin Bloomfield. His wide travels have given him a deep understanding of the subject matter of neurodiversity and the influence of culture on the understanding and definition of dyslexia. His take on this subject was absolutely fascinating.

What really stood out for me was not just the content of his presentation but the way it was presented. The way time was presented in the context of past present and future was such a revelation to me as a neurotypical person.

His personal journey of neurodiversity and his academic success truly is a testimony of how successful neurodiverse individuals can be.

Martin is an inspiring advocate for dyslexia awareness and inclusion who has consistently championed the idea that neurodiverse minds are not defined by limitation but by strength, creativity, and resilience.

Martin speaks with passion and authenticity about the lived experience of dyslexia. His uplifting message reframes what many perceive as challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation.

I have witnessed Martin’s ability to connect deeply with people. His presentations and advocacy efforts leave lasting impressions, motivating both individuals with dyslexia and those who support them.
